It's nearly 3am as I start this post. Can't sleep and my foot is killing me.
I'm really afraid I may have broken a bone in there. It started on my way to work on Friday. I just took a step that didn't feel right and it started hurting. I have tendonitis in that foot from my flat feet, but that has improved a lot since I got orthotics in August. This pain is close to where the tendonitis is (side of foot on the inside), but a little higher and further back. It has been steadily getting worse, and today has been awful. I'm really limping badly. I've spent most of the day lounging in bed after my transfer this morning, and have had a cold pack on it on and off. Now it's just constantly hurting, and the pain is starting to radiate. It's not swollen. Walking on it is really bad, but it hurts just lying in bed. Tried wrapping it in an ace bandage. Didn't help.
I really don't need this right now. I just want to make a nice calm home for my embryo. Obviously, I can't get an x-ray, but does anyone know if they can see a break on an ultrasound?
Oh, yeah, to add to my pissiness I bought an electric blanket from Sm@rt B@rgain$ last month. I tested it shortly after I received it, and it worked. But it hasn't been cold enough to use it until tonight. (I'm usually fine with my duvet.) Well, now it's not working. I just checked the website's return policy, and thankfully I have 30 days from when I received it, not from order date. So I have a few more days. Of course they are sold out of the one I purchased (although I'm not sure I'd trust the same brand (Be@utirest)). The only one thet have in stock now is $25 more, and doesn't give a brand name. I know, it's just a little thing, but I'm hormonal and pissy and just want some peacefulness.
Anyone know if vag progesterone makes you cranky? Grrrrrrr!!
Should I just consider this sleeplessness practice for motherhood?
Just when I thought things were going smoothly…

Practice for motherhood..
(hope that you're now back in slumber land and not doing funny things like practicing not sleeping)
And your leg - Oh, dear! that sounds really awuful. What about seeing a doctor? I googled for you and found this site (http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/women/pregnancy/fetal/373.html) where they say that U/S is indeed a good alternative for x-ray. Hope you get a good nights rest and that your leg feels better.
Ouch..that sounds painful..take care and do update - btw billy's tip sounds good..
Yes, progesterone suppositories make you CRANKY. You combine that with an injured foot and crankiness seems assured.
Also, the use of electric blankets while pregnant is considered controversial. Many doctors recommend against it but there is no hard firm evidence that is can cause probs. The big concern seems to be how hot you set it and how hot it makes your body. YOU might want to talk to your doc before you decide to use one.
Oooh, interesting, Kristin. My plan is to use it on top of my duvet, not against my body. I don't like it too hot anyway. The problem is the lack of control of heat in old NYC apts. Heat for the building is cycled on and off on a timer for the entire building. As opposed to the way most homeowners turn down their heat at night, it's either on or off. It is cycled off in the middle of the night when people are sleeping. My bedroom faces a courtyard, so when the heat cycles off, my heat dissipates very quickly through my 1917 walls. Brrrrrr!
Hey Dora:
You CAN have an x-ray if needed. But a clinical exam would definitely warranted prior to that. They will just shield your pelvis with lead.
I remember reading about heating blankets being contraindicated when TTC.... but I think it had something to do with the temperature the little swimmers like. So not real applicable....
Sorry you are having a miserable start to the 2ww.

Yuck that does not sound good. I hope you are feeling better soon. The timing is horrible no wonder your cranky. I think anyone would be. Hang in there!
Oh, man. Ouch. Yeah, Tylenol's not really going to touch that, huh? If it doesn't show signs of improvement (like - now), I'd go to the doc. Make him fix it. You have the power of hormones on your side!
As far as if vaginal progesterone can make you cranky, I don't know if it's because of the hormone itself, or just having to shove something in there twice a day that results in such attractive fallout. I do believe it was more the latter that made me cranky....
Hang in there!
Argh. I hope your foot isn't broken and it gets better immediately!
Here from ICLW ..
I'm on the vag progesterone ...I think it makes me insanely crabby and irritable.
Good luck with the foot!
Vag progesterone made me insane. It was horribly unpleasant overall, but it works!
Hope that your foot feels better soon. I hurt mine badly when I was first pregnant and I'm still suffering from it.
Ditto the insanity with vaginal progesterone! My poor husband can attest to that fact. :) I think it does get better with time...either that or I'm just getting used to being a beeotch 24/7. Hang in there!
Ouch! Hopefully you have your foot elevated and it is starting to feel better.
About keeping warm: a couple of years ago we bought a MATTRESS WARMER!!! It is not the cheapest thing we have ever bought, but ohhhhhh the joy of it. It has more heating coils around your toes and many fewer as it goes up to your midsection and head. We put it under a regular the mattress pad so as not to get too warm. I also remember from a long time ago that there were discussions of heating blankets being bad for you, but I also believe that is if you got too warm. Check out the mattress pad heater...I don't think that you will be disappointed!
I think any progesterone can make you cranky. You might still be able to get an x-ray of just the foot and have them shield your abdomen really well. I'm not totally sure about that but it's a possibility. Hope it stops hurting.
